AUBURN – George J. Doucette, 87, of 27 Hazelhurst St., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Clover Manor.
He was born in Lewiston, May 9, 1920, the son of Felix and Georgianna Doucette and was educated in Lewiston schools. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was married Nov. 27, 1947 to Jeannette Lacombe.
He was employed at Continental Mill and later worked as a salesman for The Value House and Benson & Sullivan.
He was a member of the Auburn Catholic community at Sacred Heart Church, the Golden Age Club, New Auburn Senior Citizens and the American Legion Post 153.
He enjoyed family barbecues and was fondly known to everyone as “The Curmudgeon.”
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette of Auburn; two daughters, Jacqueline Jalbert, and her fiancé, Albert Wells, of Lewiston and Monique Ducharme, and husband, Richard, of Auburn; a son, Raymond G. Doucette of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Nathan and Keith Jalbert, Christopher Doucette, Jason Lebel, Jason, Heather, Angela and Wendy Ducharme; 13 great-grandchildren; a daughter in “love,” Judy Doucette of Auburn; two sisters-in-law, Therese Turgeon of Auburn and Obeline Lacombe of Florida; a brother-in-law, Bertrand Lacombe of Mesa, Ariz.; and nieces and nephews.
George’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Clover Manor, especially Ward 2 and the nurses from Beacon Hospice for their love and devotion to his care.
