BOW, N.H. – Robert H. Miller, 83, of Bow, N.H., died on Aug 7.
Bob was born in Lewiston, son of Chester and Florence (Duran) Miller on Nov. 30, 1923. He graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn in 1941 and went on to receive a degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Mass.
He was a member of the Kora Shrine in Lewiston. On July 25, 1948, he married Katherine Whiting in Auburn.
In 1958, he began work with the Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co., which later became the Concord Group Insurance Co. He retired in 1991, while serving in the position of marketing vice president and member of the board of directors.
Throughout his life, he was drawn to the water. As a child he enjoyed spending summers at his family’s cottage in Bay Point on the coast of Maine. He enlisted in the Navy and served as an electronics technician on the USS Augusta during World War II and was later called up during the Korean War. For the past 50 years, he spent as much time as he could at his camp on the shores of Mooselookmeguntic Lake in the Rangeley Lakes region of Maine.
He will be missed by his family, who include Katherine, his wife of 59 years; son, James, and his wife, Margaret, of Mercer Island, Wash.; son, William of Newfane, Vt.; daughter, Barbara Audet, and her husband, Peter, of Bow, N.H.; and grandchildren, Marissa and Colton Miller of Mercer Island, Wash.
He was predeceased by one sister, Dorothy Given of Auburn.
