LEWISTON – Lewiston police say a area worker tried to steal a TV from a Bates College dormitory common area but was caught by campus security.

Police said Michael Alan Campbell, 24, was working in the area and spotted the TV in a common room at Rand Hall, a 112-student dorm on College Street. He reportedly moved the TV Wednesday, then came back for it later that night.

Bates security was waiting.

Campbell was charged with criminal attempt.
