WINTHROP – Frederick “Skip” Hewett, 75, of Main Street, Fayette, died Friday, Aug. 10, at Heritage Manor.
He was born in Fayette on July 13, 1932, the son of Chester and Frances (Leiber) Hewett.
Skip attended Fayette elementary school and graduated from Livermore Falls High School, Class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He owned and operated his own dairy farm and had worked in the woods logging with his father. He had been a bus driver for the Fayette School Department for 38 years, and also worked as custodian there for 42 years, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed being with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He attended the Readfield United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Phyllis Hewett of Fayette; a son, Michael F. Hewett, and his wife Tammy, of Lewiston; a daughter, Ruth Archer, and her husband, John, of Chesterville; two brothers, James Hewett of Auburn and Larry Hewett of Leeds; five sisters, Mary Roulston of Mattawamkeag, Sally Baker of Fayette, Nancy Hewett of Fayette, Patsy Paquette of Lewiston and Sandra Mansfield of Winthrop; six grandchildren, Charlene Archer, Daniel Archer, Emily Archer, and her fiancé, Jason Rioux, Scott Hewett, Michelle Levesque, Joshua Hewett and Amie Bussiere; two great-grandchildren, Desiree and Keyonna Hewett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Hewett and John Hewett.
