WEST PARIS – Timothy Phelps Poland died surrounded by his loving family at his parents’ home on Thursday, Aug. 9.
He was born Nov. 2, 1951, in Norway, the son of Phelps and Joan (Tamminen) Poland.
He graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1970, and from CMVTI in 1972.
He was successful in building construction working as an independent contractor with his brother, Todd. He built his own home in West Paris.
Tim was a member of Boy Scout Troop 132 in West Paris attaining the rank of Life Scout and receiving the God and Country Award.
Throughout his life, he was an active outdoorsman particularly enjoying fishing and hunting. He was also an avid NASCAR racing fan and raced Karts at Oxford Plains Speedway and other local tracks.
He is survived by his parents, Phelps and Joan Poland of West Paris; his former wife, Patricia Young of Poland; brother, Todd of West Paris; sisters and their husbands, Terry and Phil Merrill of West Paris and Jo-Anna and Scott Southard of Huntsville, Ala.; he was a loving uncle and was involved in the lives of his nieces, nephews and their children.
