AUBURN – A touch of Broadway will make its way to the Pleasant Note coffeehouse Saturday, Aug. 18, courtesy of New York City artist Nicholas De Sibio. He will perform “Pieces of Change,” a fundraising dinner and cabaret show, presented by Pleasant Note for the First Universalist Church, with support from L/A Arts.
Through songs and sketches, “Pieces of Change” looks at how we change ourselves and the world we live in. Described as a “stand-out” performer by New York’s Paper magazine, De Sibio presented this one-man show this spring at The Dorothy Jones Theater at the Singers Forum in the Big Apple, for a three-night run.
His resume spans more than 20 years of acting, writing and directing on New York’s stages, as well as television. He also sang the national anthem at the New Jersey Devils’ games at The Meadowlands for a season.
De Sibio will be accompanied by British pianist Jonathan McCloud.
A dinner prepared by locals Peter Mauro and Don Johnson will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the show to start at 7:30. Afterward, patrons can take a short walk to see the “moonglow” from Bonney Park – when inflated but tethered balloons are lit up by their hot-air burners as part of the Great Falls Balloon Festival.
Tickets are $18 for adults/$15 for seniors and students. Advance tickets are discounted $3 if purchased by 5 p.m. Aug. 12 (People can call and leave a message Sunday.). Tickets are available by calling L/A Arts at 782-7228. First Universalist Church is at 169 Pleasant St. For more information, call 783-0461.
