WEST PARIS – “Zoom-Zoom-Zoom Goes the Race Car!” is the final program of the West Paris Library’s summer reading program, “Everyday Mysteries: Solved.”

Veteran racers Bill Coolidge and his son, Chris, and their race cars will be at the library parking lot at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Those attending will learn what makes a car go and especially what it is like to race one. Children can sit in a race car and Bill will give brief rides around the parking lot to children with an adult’s permission. Bill’s daughter has raced too and the family’s trophies will be displayed at the library.

Refreshments will be served in the library while the Coolidges show videos of their races. Call first if it is raining. For more information, call 674-2004.

Yard, bake sale

STONEHAM – A yard and bake sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Stoneham Congregational Church, Route 5.

Donations of food for the bake sale will be appreciated. Food items may be dropped off at the Stoneham Church on the day of the sale. For more information, call Sharon McAllister at 928-2878.

Church supper

NORTH WATERFORD – A public supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the North Waterford Congregational Church, Five Kezars Road.

The menu will include baked beans, American chop suey, casseroles, salads, brown bread, rolls, beverages and homemade pies. The price for adults is $7; children under 12, $3.50.

Regular Sunday worship services are being held at 10 a.m. at the Stoneham Congregational Church. Bible study is at 9:15 a.m. Sunday before the regular worship service.

Open house

OXFORD – The Oxford Hills Children’s House, a Montessori school, will host an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19.

On the same day, the school will celebrate Back to School Kids Safety with firefighters, police school bus drivers, emergency medical/paramedics and DNA kits for children at the school.

The Oxford Hills Children’s House Parent Committee has planned the presentation.

Pancake breakfast

PARIS – An all-you-can-eat blueberry pancake breakfast will be held from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Deering Memorial Methodist Church, corner of Church and Main streets. A bake sale, all things blueberry, including pies and muffins, will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. Cost for the breakfast is $5.50 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
