CANTON – A fundraiser dance will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Old Canton Fire Hall, Route 140. Proceeds will help with medical expenses for country musician Don Thibodeau.

Music will be provided by Country Jim Palmer, Potpourri, Bobby Thibodeau and friends, Patrick Libby and friends and Jim G. and friends.

There will be door prizes, raffles, 50/50 drawings and a snack bar. Admission is $7 a person or $12 for couples. For more information, call 897-9254.

Vocal contest

RUMFORD – Voices of the Valley, a vocal competition, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Mountain Valley High School. Auditions will start at 9 a.m. and the show at 6 p.m.

From 4 to 5:30 p.m., friends and family of Tammy MacDonald will hold a barbecue of hamburgers and hot dogs, salads, corn on the cob and a soft drink for $5. Strawberry shortcake will be available for $2.

All proceeds from the vocal competition and barbecue will go to MacDonald to help defray the costs of her treatments.
