LEWISTON – A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Earl B. Gowell was held Aug. 8 at St. Joseph’s Church, following prayers at the Memorial Chapel of Dillingham & Son.

The Rev. Michael Seavey celebrated the Mass and recited committal prayers at the interment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. During Mass the readers were Chris Murray and Amy Ashton. The offertory gifts were brought to the alter by Alison Hrysuna and Amanda Powers. Words of remembrance written by Earl’s daughter, Betsy, were read by Father Seavey at the conclusion of Mass.

Following committal prayers, the U.S. Army Honor Detail played “Taps” and presented our country’s flag to Earl’s grandson, 2nd Lt. Ryan Goulet, U.S. Army, who in turn presented the flag to his grandmother, Mary.

The pallbearers were 2nd Lt. Ryan Goulet, Cameron Goulet, Scott Gowell, Dale Gowell, and Neal and Chris Murray. Following the committal, all were invited to a reception of fellowship at the home of Judy and Jerry Gosselin in Lewiston.
