Senior Citizens meeting

DIXFIELD – The Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet today at the Dixfield Legion Hall. The meeting will start at 11 a.m. and is followed by a pot luck dinner and Chinese auction. Members are reminded that payment for the Gaither Concert will be due by Sept. 1. There are still a few seats available for the Bill Gaither concert on October 19 as well as the Octoberfest at Indian Head in Lincoln, New Hampshire. Stephens High ’52 reunion

RUMFORD- The reunion committee of Stephens High School Class of 1952 met recently at the home of Dennis and Dru Breton to finalize plans for their upcoming 55th class reunion, which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the American Legion on Congress Street.

Social hour will be from 4 to 6 p.m.; class portrait at 5:30 p.m.; dinner at 6 p.m.

The committee, consisting of Paul and Patty Jones, Vito Gaccetta, Dennis and Dru Breton, Pat Hopkins, Better Dumoulin, Dot Benedix, and Ray and Barbara Doherty, will meet at Teena’s Restaurant in East Rumford from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, to welcome classmates.

On Sunday, Aug. 19, a Mass for all deceased members of the class will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St Athanasius and St. Johns Church.

Hawaiian Night Saturday

RUMFORD- Hawaiian Night at the Elks will be held Saturday, Aug. 18. Steak dinner and dance is $13; dance only, $3 at the door.

Proceeds from the buffet dinner and dance will benefit the lodge. There will be a raffle and other fundraising during the night to benefit Maine Children’s Cancer. Dinner will be at 6 p.m.; dancing from 7 to 11 p.m. Show off your best Hawaiian Outfit. Tickets available at the bar.

Pork roast Saturday

KINGFIELD- The United Methodist Church is having a pork roast supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18. $6 for adults; children under 12 are free; family rates are available as well as take out.

Lobster rolls for sale

DIXFIELD- The Dixfield Congregational Church will be selling 100 percent lobster rolls on Main Street across from the library during the Market Day Celebration on Sunday, Aug. 19. The cost of the lobster roll will be $6.

‘Nickel’ bingo in Dixfield

DIXFIELD- On Sunday, Aug. 19, the American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a “Nickel” bingo, with hot dogs and food sale during Dixfield Outdoor Market. The Legion Hall will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Bingo hours will be from noon to 3 p.m.

Stephens High luncheons

RUMFORD- Stephens High School Class of 1950 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20, at Teena’s Restaurant. All are welcome. Call Margaret at 364-2098 or Frances at 364-4643 if you plan to attend.

Members of the Class of 1949 will meet for their regular monthly luncheon at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Teena’s.

There were 32 attendees at the Class of 1949 reunion on Aug. 11 at the Carriage House Cafe in Livermore. They enjoyed the sociability and the meal and a brief meeting. Balloons were sent aloft for eight more recently deceased classmates. Plans for this reunion were made by Lorraine Perry Nadeau, Mary Lou Fraser Fiske, Harrison Burns and Dale Sweatt. Some further plans were made for the 60 reunion to be held in August of 2009.
