LEWISTON – Merwyn A. Lawrence passed away on Aug. 14, in Lewiston, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 27, 1932, the third child of Warren and Leah Lawrence. He attended local schools. He learned early in life the meaning of hard work while helping out on his parents poultry farm. He was working at Auburn Motor Home Center at the time of his illness.

In June 1959, he married Mary Cotton. Together they raised four daughters. He was an avid outdoorsman and was often seen heading out fishing with his brother-in-law Frank Tower, or you could find him tending his garden. Merwyn and Mary loved camping and traveling. Together they visited New York, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, Tennessee, Hawaii, Aruba and Florida, but most of all he enjoyed his family camp in Township D.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his beloved sister, Dorothy and her husband, Rudy Allen, of Auburn; daughters, Katherine and husband, Alan Hatfield, of New Gloucester, June and her husband, Kenneth Daigle, of Durham, Brenda and her husband, Randy Hinkley, of Turner, Janet and her husband, Leo Morissette, of Greene, a son, Roy Thompson and wife, Joanne, of Colorado; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; life-long friends, Galen, Roland, Norman and Ted.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Baby Warren; and a son, Richard Thibodeau.

Merwyn will always be loved, never forgotten, may you rest in peace, we love you!
