GRAY – The Maine Wildlife Park will feature a demonstration by chain saw artist Ron Carlson on Aug. 25 at the park on Route 26 in Gray from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Carlson is a professional chain saw carver from China, Maine, and began woodcarving in the mid ’60s before being introducted to chain saw art in the early 1990s. He has carved almost every animal, abstracts, and all sorts of strange custom requests: from airplanes – to the Seven Dwarfs – to giant Gorillas on Safari.
This program is the last in this season’s Wildlife Days theme, sponsored by the Friends of the Maine Wildlife Park.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by, ask questions and even participate in some activities.
Final program events before the park closes for the winter in Nov. will be a last ‘Night Visit’ when the park will open on a moonlit Friday evening for the very popular Oct. “Halloween Night Hike” on Oct. 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Admission to the park is free for ages 3 and under; $4 ages 5-12; $6 for adults, and $4.50 for seniors. Groups of 15 or more are $3 each. Bring a picnic and spend the day! Family and Community Season Passes are available.
The park is open daily, through Nov. 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and visitors must leave by 6 p.m.
