WILTON – The Wilton Academy class of 1957 held its 50th year reunion on Aug. 4.

On Aug. 3, classmates Sherryl Porter, Lida Trask, Richard Cameron, Richard Landry, Robert Trask and Sharon Jacques decorated a float in the barn of Lida and Bob Trask. The float, lent for the occasion by R.S. Osgood’s company in East Dixfield, was hauled by a tractor driven by Richard Hall, husband of classmate Gloria Hall in the Blueberry Festival parade on Saturday morning. Sonya Conant made the many posters that hung around the lower part of the float and blue and white streamers and decorations covered most of the rest of the float. Sonya made “before” photos of each graduating classmate which were worn around their necks so onlookers could see what they looked like 50 years ago!

Each carried a blue and a white balloon which was filled with helium and released in front of the Wilton Congregational Church where the judges were sitting.

Riding on the float were Sonya Smith Conant, David Melendy, Robert Trask, Lida Lake Trask, Jean Smedberg Howard, Sharon Rainey Jacques, Richard Cameron, Janice Mederios McKeen, Joyce Nelson Palmer, Herschel Welch, Gloria Foster Hall, Richard Landry, Connie Taylor Toozer and Sherryl Lothrop Porter.

After the parade, classmates gathered at the home of Sharon and Wil Jacques on Walker Hill in Wilton for an outdoor potluck luncheon and lots of time to reminisce. Attending the luncheon/get-together were: Irving Lake Jr. and wife Carol; Sonya Conant and husband Coval; David Melendy and wife Jean from Kentucky; Robert and Lida Trask; Jean Howard and husband Ivan; Sharon Jacques and husband Wil; Toni Lilianthal and husband Frank; Richard Cameron and wife Marlene; Janice McKeen; Joyce Palmer; Connie Toozer and husband George; Clifford Norton and wife Leanne from New Hampshire; Sherryl Porter; Anne Yeaton Beisaw and friend Mr. Gottshall; Richard Landry and wife Carmen; and Gloria Hall.
