AUBURN – A celebration of life service honoring Merwyn Lawrence was held Friday afternoon, Aug. 17, from the Memorial Chapel of Dillingham & Son with Pastor Daniel Johnston presiding.
The service began with Merwyn’s daughters, led by June Daigle, sharing words of remembrance of their father. Then the song “Grampa” by the Judds was played before Pastor Daniel Johnston commenced his service. Merwyn’s lifelong best friend, Galen Strout, shared words of remembrance. A delegation from LL Bean was also in attendance.
The Lawrence family proceeded to Gracelawn Memorial Park in Merwyn’s 1963 Chrysler Newport convertible with his wife Mary holding her husband’s urn.
Graveside committal prayers were then recited by Pastor Johnston, followed by an a capella rendition of “Amazing Grace” sung by Tracie Ridley. In recognition of Merwyn’s lifelong following of the Boston Red Sox, everyone cheered, “Go, Red Sox” to conclude the services.
Arrangements by Dillingham & Son Memorial Chapel & Tribute Center, 62 Spring St., Auburn.
