LEWISTON – Arthur Wayne Cobb, 67, of New Gloucester, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 14, at St. Mary’s ICU in Lewiston. He passed on peacefully surrounded by family and close friends after a long fight with lung disease.
He was born Sept. 11, 1939, in Poland, a son of the late Arthur Cobb and Marion Merrill.
He enjoyed time spent with family, most notably playing cribbage and fishing.
He also was heavily involved in clubs and fraternities in which he enjoyed the friendship and helping the community, and they are: Cumberland Lodge No. 12 Blue Lodge, Boaz Chapter No. 72 Royal Arch Masons, Dunlap Council No. 8 Royal and Select Masters, Lewiston Commandery No. 6 Knights Templar, Eusebius Conclave No. 3 Red Cross of Constantine, Maine Council Order of the high priesthood, Past Master of Cumberland Lodge No. 12 Blue Lodge and Past High Priest of Boaz, and finally GNG Lions in which he was a charter/founding member.
He had a strong belief in helping people and enjoyed his time as town manager of New Gloucester and his short time as a town selectman because of it.
He is survived by his two sons, David and his wife, Susan, with three step-grandchildren, Jessica, Heather and Faith, and Steven and his wife, Emily, and his step-grandchildren, Zalif and Thane.
He is also survived by a nephew, Elwood Cobb; a niece, Linda “Currin” Cobb; as well as an extended family of Rick and Nicole Andrews and their two sons.
He will be missed by his close friend, Pat Dionisio.
