Former Dixfield resident and Little League lefty pitcher Richard Hemingway, now of Avon, Mass., was one of many people who dunked police officers on Sunday at Dixfield’s Outdoor Market. Hemingway’s accuracy was dead on for several balls, dumping bail commissioner Bob Grinnell. Patrolman Eric Bernier, Dixfield’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education officer, and his family ran the booth, which had made more than $300 by 2:30 p.m. for the DARE program. “People are having so much fun dunking police,” Bernier’s wife Darcy said, as her husband took another turn in the tank, replacing Grinnell.
