LEWISTON – Roger A. Knowlton, 63, of Everett Road, Poland, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 20, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Dover-Foxcroft, Oct. 13, 1943, the son of Carroll H. and Florence Judkins Knowlton. He graduated from Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft, in 1961, and attained his bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Maine in Orono in 1966, and the University of Michigan Schools of Business Administration in 1983.
He was married Aug. 8, 1992, to Nancy Lothrop Pratt, and was employed for 22 years at Central Maine Power company until his retirement in 1995. He and his wife have operated a call center out of their home office for Efficiency Maine Business Program for the past five years. He was very active in SCORE in the Lewiston/Auburn area. He also enjoyed politics, writing letters to the editor and woodworking. He was very respected in the town of Poland and was always kind and considerate to his neighbors, helping them whenever they were in need. He loved his family very much and was extremely proud of them and their accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Poland; two sons, Jeffrey Knowlton and his wife, Jane, of Rochester, N.H., and Jared Knowlton and his wife, Melissa, of Manchester; six grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Michael and Lauren Knowlton, Lacy and Jake Verrill and their parents, Lorrie and Tom Verrill; three sisters, Carolyn Doore of Atkinson, Beverly Carsley of Palmyra, and Linda Hews and her husband, Kenneth, of Sebec Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
