Donald Trump says he has a number of people lined up to appear in the celebrity version of “The Apprentice,” but it’s who he’d like to get for the show that’s the reason for this story.

The real-estate titan says he wants the train-wreck triumvirate of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears for the next edition of the show, which will be a midseason entry at NBC. Trump tells the New York Post, in typically self-promotional fashion, that he’s already talking with Spears, has heard of Hilton’s interest and plans to contact Lohan soon as well, presumably following her rehab stint.

“We’re negotiating with Britney right now. Can you imagine her doing it?” Trump tells the paper. “We’re not sure what will happen. But she likes the idea of being on television and I think she’d be great.” Trump also says Hilton “wants to be on,” though that was apparently news to the heiress and recent L.A. County Jail inmate’s spokesman. Reps for Spears and Lohan haven’t commented.

The celebrity “Apprentice” was a late addition to the NBC schedule this summer, and as such will probably be a midseason show. The show’s most recent season averaged just 7.5 million viewers in the spring, less than half the audience it gathered in its first couple of runs.

Among those Trump claims already on board for the show are CNBC stock-picker Jim Cramer, fashionista Kimora Lee Simmons, actress Carmen Electra and boxer-turned-entrepreneur George Foreman. Everyone involved will be playing for charities.
