Editor’s note: Every day there are rays of light that shine into the lives of people through their neighbors, their co-workers, their families and even through complete strangers. This column is devoted to exposing these sunbeams to the light and offering readers an opportunity to share good news. We plan to occasionally offer up our own sunbeams, too.
An all-terrain Christmas

Thanks to all who worked to make the Christmas in July ATV Toy Run such a success. Money and toys were given to Santa’s Helpers, Peru/Dixfield Christmas for Parents and Bethel’s Christmas for Families.

It was quite a thrill to see so many all-terrain vehicles coming side-by-side to bring toys and money to the three charities. I never realized there are so many ATV families in the area, but I was told a local club has some 200 ATV members.

Many thanks to all.

Angels with dirty hands

My wife and I were assisted by two wonderful samaritans on July 26, on Sabattus Street, near Golder Road, in Lewiston. The right front tire on my car went flat, and I was in the process of jacking up the car to replace the flat with my spare tire, when two young “angels” stopped and jumped right on my predicament.

They swapped the flat tire with the spare. They have our thanks and deserve accolades for their unselfish act of kindness. They are truly angels.

Jay Day hooray

The North Jay Grange wishes to thank Jay taxpayers for voting to raise $500 for the grange restoration fundraiser, and to the crew for restoring the front porch. Also, a huge thank-you goes to the many, many people who donated time and energy to contribute to the North Jay Day, either volunteering to help, or participating in the parade. Another thank-you to all area businesses who were so generous in donating items.

Blueberry praise

The Wilton Blueberry Festival 2007 was a great success, thanks to the help of firefighters, members of the highway and recreation departments, police, medics, civic groups, businesses, crafters, vendors, churches, volunteers and Mother Nature. Special thanks to all those and anyone who stepped in to help out where needed.

Thanks also to the Kora Temple units for coming to entertain the public and to all those who helped keep people safe during the storm that caused a cancellation of the races.

Again, thanks to everyone for their participation. No job goes unnoticed.

Shannon Smith, Weld, Chairman, Wilton Blueberry Festival
