LEWISTON – There are still a few spaces available in some Lewiston Adult Education classes scheduled to begin in September.
September cooking classes will include:
“What’s for Lunch?”: Receive a sampling of low-cost, simple, healthy choices just in time for school or work. The one-night class is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6.
“Cooking with Fruits and Veggies of the Season”: Get some new ideas for preparing fresh garden selections. The class will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13.
“Easy Food Preservation”: The class will show participants how to freeze, can and preserve foods affordably and safely. The two-week class will begin Thursday, Sept. 27, and will be held from 6 to 9 p.m.
September’s business and finance programs will include:
“Event Planning”: It is a one-week presentation by the Convention and Visitors Bureau to help participants organize and host a variety of functions. It will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12.
“Getting Started with Your Own Business”: It gives an overview of the steps to self-employment. The workshop will be facilitated by Shirley Hamilton from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12.
“Public Speaking Do’s and Don’ts”: The class is for anyone needing help preparing for and delivering group presentations. The two-week program is scheduled to begin on Monday, Sept. 10, and run from 6 to 8 p.m.
Dance and music classes will include:
“Ballroom Basics” and “Ballroom Next Steps”: These six-week programs can get participants and their partners on their way. Classes will begin on Thursday, Sept. 6.
“Little Bit of Latin”: The class is for dance partners looking to try some new moves. Learn salsa, meringue and the cha cha cha. Class will begin on Monday, Sept. 10, and run for six weeks.
“Next Step Guitar”: The class is for adults with basic guitar skills looking to develop their playing techniques. The eight-week program will begin on Thursday, Sept. 6.
Classes to develop a hobby will include:
“Frontier History”: It is an eight-week program for those interested in the American West. Class will begin on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
“Genealogy”: The program will aid those interested in researching and recording their family history. The eight-week program will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
“Intro to Collecting Antiques”: It is a one-night workshop for those with an interest in antiques. The program is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10.
“Landscaping Fundamentals”: The four-week program will cover soils, plants and hardscapes. The program will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m.
“The Science of Magic”: The class is a one-night look at magic acts. Find out why certain tricks work and learn a few from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25.
