LEWISTON – Guidance through Grief, an eight-week educational and support group program for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one or friend, will be offered in the Lewiston/Auburn area from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Sept. 18.
The program is facilitated by professional bereavement and social work counselors and is sponsored at no cost to participants by Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and Central Maine Medical Center.
The weekly sessions are designed to help individuals. Topics will include “Understanding the Grieving Process,” “Dealing with Practical Concerns,” “Managing Stress and Pain” and “Finding Hope and Comfort.”
“Working in partnership with CMMC, this group has been a vital support to many area adults coping with the death of a loved one,” said Jim Douglas, AHCH bereavement supervisor. “We see the direct benefits participants receive when they are able to better understand the grief process and can share their feelings with others who have experienced similar losses.”
Participants are encouraged to attend all eight sessions and preregistration is required. For more information, contact Douglas at 1-800-482-7412 or 795-9462.
