AUBURN – Police on Friday arrested a trio of teenagers and charged them with attempting to rob the Dunkin’ Donuts on Broad Street last weekend.
Detectives spent a week working on leads before they found and arrested the three women Friday night at a home not far from the doughnut shop.
Police also arrested a fourth woman and charged her with attempting to conceal the whereabouts of the suspects.
Charged with robbery Friday night were Elizabeth Ferguson, 20, Chassidy Black, 18, and 19-year-old Savannah Stockman. The three women live together in an apartment at 46 River St. in Lewiston, across the South Bridge from the business that was robbed.
21-year-old Keri Kyle, of 5 Blake St., was charged with hindering apprehension, accused of giving police misleading information when questioned about the robbery.
Witnesses told police that Ferguson and Stockman were the suspects who went into Dunkin’ Donuts on Saturday night and brandished a large knife. The pair demanded money but a store clerk refused to hand any over, police said.
Ferguson and Stockman then ran from the store and back to Lewiston, along with Black who police described as a lookout.
The clerk and other witnesses provided descriptions of the suspects when police first responded.
Police identified the three women as suspects as their investigation progressed in recent days. At about 5 p.m. Friday, police found them at 33 Sixth St., where they were arrested.
Black, Ferguson and Stockman were each being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $10,000 cash bail. Kyle was being held on $1,000 bail.
