FARMINGTON – A Farmington woman who is facing charges after her vehicle struck a snowmobile last winter, killing a passenger, will have her case go to a jury trial.
Jury selection will begin Sept. 6, according to the District Attorney’s Office on Friday. A trial date will be scheduled after jury selection.
Sarah Forbes, 43, pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter and operating under the influence in April.
Police accused her of driving with a .16 percent blood-alcohol level in February after her vehicle struck a snowmobile at Routes 2 and 4 in Farmington. The driver of the sled, Rick Billian, 23, of Strong, and his passenger and fiancee, Lisa Cerqueira, 20, of Wilton, were injured. Cerqueira died several days later from her injuries.
Billian’s sled had crossed a road to get to a trail, but one of the machine’s skis got stuck on the road curb and he had gotten off to straighten it when the accident happened.
After a court appearance in February, Forbes was released from jail on $10,000 unsecured bail.
