South Paris – Milton H. Scribner, 79, of Norway, died Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Market Square Health Care Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Scribner was born in Oxford on Sept. 30, 1927, the son of Walter and Florence (Hall) Scribner. He married the former Sylvia Conant on June 22, 1946.

He had worked for many years as a meat cutter at Fuller’s Store in Oxford and at Oxford Foods in Norway. He also cut meat for the Norway Lake Store and was the site manager for Rustfield Village. Early in his career he owned a poultry business with his father in Welchville.

He was a 56-year member of Tyrian Lodge AF & AM of Mechanic Falls, Craigie Lodge 121 Knights of Pythias. He enjoyed playing golf and was an active member of the Paris Hill Country Club. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was fondly referred to by many nieces and nephews as Uncle Timer.

He is survived by two daughters, Vicki and her husband, Glen Merrill, of Waterford, and Carol Breton of South Paris; a son, Irving Scribner and his wife, Hiroko, of Lewiston; a brother, Robert Scribner of South Paris; two sisters, Lois Estes of Gorham and Kathleen Cressey of Brunswick; and four grandchildren, Shonn Breton and his wife, Nicole, of Tomah, Wis., Anthony Scribner of Seattle, Wash., Jillian Diffin and husband, Eric, of Norway, and Mikenzi Merrill of Waterford, and two great-grandchildren, Sienna and Ava Breton of Tomah, Wis.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sylvia Scribner on Jan. 2.
