EASTON, Md. – Stratton Edgel Nichols of Easton, Md., formerly of Scituate, Mass., died on Monday, Aug. 20, at his home in Easton. He was 77.

Born Nov. 28, 1929, in Lewiston, he was the son of the late Edgel and Effie Tatamanis Nichols.

After graduating from the Cheshire Academy, Cheshire, Conn., in 1948, he attended Boston University, where he earned an associate degree. In 1952 he earned a bachelor of science degree in hotel administration from the University of New Hampshire and later a master’s degree in occupational education from Northeastern University.

From 1952 to 1954, he served in the U.S. Army, Quartermaster Corps, Fort Lee, Va.

He was the owner of the Harborview Restaurant in Scituate, Mass., and, most recently, the Rehabilitation Service Training Program Coordinator for McLean Hospital, Belmont, Mass.

A resident of Scituate, Mass., for 50 years before moving to Easton, Md., in August, he was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Cohasset, Mass., and a member of the Tranquil Lodge of Master Masons in Auburn.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Alcmene V. Nichols, whom he married Jan. 25, 1953, in Watertown, Mass.; two children, Dr. Thea Calkins of Baltimore, Md., and Rodanthe Hanrahan and her husband, Paul, of Easton, Md.; two sisters, Athena Aloupis of Bangor and Rodanthe Nichols of Auburn; and five grandchildren, Emily and Eliza Calkins, and Kaley, Christopher and Garrett Hanrahan.

He was predeceased by a sister, Rita Consulas.
