AUBURN – Mechanics Savings Bank is announcing its 2007 scholarship recipients from Lewiston High School.
Lindsey Marie Dostie, daughter of Richard and Suzanne Dostie, plans to major in nursing at St. Joseph’s College of Maine.
Dostie was a member of the L Club and played field hockey and lacrosse.
In addition, she was enrolled in the LRTC’s School of Health Science and was an early college student at Central Maine Community College.
Dostie served as a volunteer for the Special Olympics in the areas of skiing and track and was a ski instructor at Lost Valley for the junior racing program and Mighty Mites.
Joshua R. Leger is the son of Richard and Tina Leger. He plans to major in computer engineering at the University of Maine in Orono.
He was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society and the LHS football, baseball and bowling teams.
Leger was named to the Maine Chapter of the National Football Hall of Fame. He was a volunteer for the Special Olympics and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
For more than 20 years, Mechanics Savings Bank has provided scholarships to assist high school graduates with their higher education tuitions and fees. This year, the bank’s scholarship donations to local and area high schools totaled $19,500.
