AUBURN – Mildred E. Bates, 81, of 20 Great Falls Plaza, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 26, at her home.

She was born in Auburn, Dec. 9, 1925, the daughter of John E. and Hazel Decoster Devoe. She was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School. She was married in 1960 to Keith Bates, who predeceased her in 1994.

Prior to her retirement she was employed as a teller at Auburn Savings Bank and later at Peoples Bank. She attended Court Street Baptist Church, was very active in the Rebekah’s of Maine, and enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by two sisters, Charlene Thuotte, and husband, Robert, of Scarborough and Jackie Duchette, and husband, Ramon, of Mechanic Falls; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Doris Day and Ruth Bellmore.
