Open house

RUMFORD – Gymnastics and cheer tumble sign-ups and open house will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Community Center.

Book sale

RUMFORD – The Rumford Library’s annual book sale will take place downstairs in the public room from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. Books will be displayed by category and genre.

Friends of the Library, part of Friends of Libraries USA, is the sponsoring group, with its next event being a classic film showing later in September. Volunteers and new members are welcome.

Bottle drive

CANTON – The Canton Historical Society will hold a bottle drive from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 8, at the society building on Route 108. For bottle pick-up, call Colby at 597-2005, Bob at 597-2012, Betty at 597-2564 or Elise at 897-6919.

Supper, meetings

DIXFIELD – Swasey-Torrey Post, American Legion, and Auxiliary will hold a 5 p.m. spaghetti supper before the regular meetings on Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Legion Hall. Sponsored by the auxiliary, all members of the post and unit are invited.

The auxiliary state president will be the invited guest. Meetings begin at 6 p.m.

Bingo to begin

RUMFORD – Bingo will start Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Armory, 85 Lincoln Ave. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m., bingo starts at 1 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the non-medical reimbursable programs provided by Hope Association. For more information, call 364-4561.
