LEWISTON – The Lewiston Downtown Community Action Group will host a street cleanup and block party on Saturday, Sept. 1. The rain date is Sept. 8.

The cleanup will begin at 3 p.m. at Vicki’s Store on the corner of Birch and Blake streets and will continue to Maple Street. The block party, from 5 to 7 p.m., will take place all along Blake Street, from Birch to Maple. Activities will include a cookout, raffle, face painting and a fire department smokehouse, used to train children in fire safety.

“It’s a chance for everyone to get to know their neighbors,” said Community Action Group President Jess Golder.
