JAY – A Mass of Christian Burial with full military honors was celebrated Wednesday for Earl E. Newcomb at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay preceded by prayers at Finley Funeral Home in Livermore Falls. Officiating was the Rev. Roger Chabot. Hymns sung by the resurrection choir included “On Eagle’s Wings,” “In The Garden,” “Amazing Grace” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic” accompanied by Therese Therrien. Readings were done by Ann Marie Richards and Kathy Bilodeau. Gifts were presented by Emily and Chloe Allen. Eulogy was given by Debra Kendall and a letter from his grandson, Tobin Fournier was read by Susan Frick. Pallbearers were David Allen III, Duncan Allen, Steve Hayford, Sport Knapp, David Newcomb and Jim Newcomb. Members of the VFW, Post 3335 included firing squad members Dick Moreau, Raoul LaPlante, Robert Welch, Robert Roy and David O. Smith; color guard members Francis Therrien, Wallace Tripp, Mike Wadsworth, Roland Therrien and Jean Nadeau; honor guard members Erlon Rose, Wayne Parker and Neree Simoneau. Auxiliary members were Sue Morris, Sheila Weed, Lynn Dunn, Barbara Cook, Diane Getz, Janet Rose, Betty Houle and Janice Sweeney. Flag was presented to the family by Neree Simoneau. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Livermore Falls.
