LEWISTON – HealthSteps, part of the prevention and wellness services offered through St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, offers a wide range of classes with the core membership fee and also a variety of specialty classes, including:

Tai chi: Effects include increased balance, better circulation, improved hand/eye coordination and reduced blood pressure.

Instructor, Betsey Foster; Tuesdays, 6:45 to 7:45 p.m., Sept. 11 through Dec. 11; cost, $108; Lepage Large Conference Room, 99 Campus Ave.

Tennis: Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, for walk-in and phone registration. Specific time slots available for registration Monday through Friday include: 6 to 7, 7 to 8:3, 8:30 to 9:30 and 9:30 to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon.

The tennis court reserved for HealthSteps use is located at the far end of the field house.

Cost with HealthSteps core membership, $14 for the entire fall session; without core membership, $108.

Racquetball: Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4. Specific time slots are available for registration Monday through Friday on the hour for an hour from 6 a.m. until noon.

Cost with HealthSteps core membership, $14 for fall session; without core membership an hour one time a week, $70 or an hour twice a week, $112

Tobacco cessation counseling: An individual session will help participants gain an understanding of the quitting process.

Included is a packet of materials to help individuals quit on their own. A multi-session (three) will be with a smoking cessation coach, set a quit date and work through the quitting process. By appointment only: single session, $30; multi-session, $60.
