OCALA, Fla. – Maria Anna (Goller) Courbron, 76, formerly of Greene, died peacefully on Aug. 19, at the home of her daughter, Janet, in Ocala, Fla., where she had resided for five years. She was known as Mary to friends and family in Greene.

She was born on Jan. 15, 1931, in Nuremberg, Germany. She became a war bride on July 1, 1947, marrying George A. Courbron Sr. in Nuremberg. Together they raised six daughters and two sons.

While raising a family, she worked for many years as a stitcher in local shoe shops, including Shapiro’s and Dori Shoe, and later doing maintenance at Bates College.

Her favorite times were when she resided on Allen Pond in Greene. She is fondly remembered for her wonderful meals on Sundays when her family would gather in full numbers to eat and then play board games or cards.

She is survived by her husband, George of Ocala, Fla.; daughters, Rosemary Merrill of Greene, Audrey Pelkey of Ocala, Fla., Janet Kirouac of Ocala, Fla., Debra Dostie of Leeds and Kathy Adams of Ocala, Fla.; one son, George Courbron Jr. of Greene; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sons and daughters-in-law; one sister, Anne Mock of Auburndale, Fla.; and her precious pet Pomeranian, Jackie.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Theresa Desrosier in 1995; and her first grandchild, Linda Merrill Tardif in 1986. Just eight days after Mary’s death, her son, Paul Courbron passed away on Aug. 27.
