WILTON – An incident at a Route 2 home here Sunday night netted the alleged assailant approximately $20.
According to police, Timothy Harvell, 40, of Wilton went to the Route 2 residence about 8 p.m. and pounded on the door demanding money. The homeowner, who police said knew Harvell, wasn’t going to give him anything.
Harvell then allegedly shoved the homeowner backward into the house, Caton said. And as he was reaching into his pocket to get some money to give the intruder, Caton said Harvell grabbed the homeowner’s arm, took his money and left.
Harvell allegedly fled the scene in a car driven by a second person, whom police refused to identify pending an investigation. The pair headed toward East Dixfield, later crashing the vehicle on Morse Hill Road in North Jay. They fled the scene, leaving Jay Police officers and Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies and tracking dogs searching the area.
Harvell was located the following day and arrested on a charge of probation violation and was issued a summons for operating after suspension by Jay police.
At this time, Harvell faces charges of theft and assault, said Caton. The matter remains under investigation.
