TURNER-The 8th annual Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce/Central Maine Community College Scholarship Scramble was held August 29 at Turner Highlands Country Club.

The event, with major sponsor White Rock Distilleries and co-sponsors Skelton, Taintor & Abbott, and the Wal-Mart Distribution Center, plus 72 other local businesses, raised over $37,000 for scholarships for local students attending college.

Manoogian-Plummer win

CARRABASSETT VALLEY – Gary Manoogian and Mark Plummer held onto their first round lead in the Two-Man Championship held at Sugarloaf Golf Club. They shot even par, 140, in the better ball final round Wednesday to win by 4 strokes.

John Bauman and Tom Bean matched their first round even par on the second day to tie Scott Dewitt-Keith Peterson (the only team of the day under par) with a 1-under 71. The two teams tied for second place at even par, while Dave Chambers and Kyle Ladd of host Sugarloaf came in a 145.
