LEWISTON – The Lewiston and Auburn public libraries have taken a collaborative step toward making the Internet a safer place for local residents by offering free cyber safety bookmarks to their patrons.
The eye-catching green and purple bookmarks feature a bulleted list of practical tips for avoiding the dangers of navigating on the World Wide Web.
They are available in three versions: “Tips for Teens,” which focuses on safe blogging; “Tips for Kids,” on dealing with cyber bullies; and “Tips for Parents,” on encouraging healthy social networking practices for their youngsters.
The bookmarks, which will be available at all of the service desks at both libraries, were designed utilizing a template developed jointly by the Illinois Library Association and MySpace.com.
