FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) – Six Framingham teens are being charged with throwing Molotov cocktails in the parking lot of a Hindu Temple in Ashland.

Officials aren’t calling the vandalism a hate crime, but more than $12,000 worth of damage was done to two light poles in the parking lot of the Sri Lakshmi Temple, which attracts Hindu worshippers throughout the Northeast.

The teens – all 16 years old – face charges of possessing a Molotov cocktail, causing an explosion, destroying property and conspiracy. Authorities say the damage happened in early July and early August.

The teens are scheduled to appear in juvenile court next week.
