KENNEBUNKPORT – George Freeman Stevens Jr., 71, of Sinnott Road, Kennebunkport, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, after a long illness.

George was born Jan. 16, 1936, in Kennebunk, the son of George and Ruth (Simpson) Stevens Sr. He graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, and went on to serve his country for seven years in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Maxine Klimper of Malta, Mont., on March 23, 1957.

George is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Maxine Stevens; sons, Richard Stevens of Biddeford, Robert Stevens of Lyman, and Ryan Stevens of Gilford, N.H.; daughters, Rebecca Stevens-Paradis of Kennebunkport, and Rachel Savage of Biddeford; brother, Edwin Goodwin; sister, Carole Moran; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased his father, George Stevens Sr.; his stepfather, Wesley D. Goodwin; his mother, Ruth Goodwin; and by his sister, Patricia Goodwin.
