AUBURN – Lawrence “Larry” R. Giasson, 51, died, unexpectedly, Friday, Aug. 31, at his home.

Larry was born in Lewiston on May 20, 1956, a son to Roger and Cecile (Duplississ) Giasson. He was educated in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1974.

After graduation, he married the love of his life, Claire Morin, at Sacred Heart Church on Aug. 5, 1977.

Larry worked many different jobs. For a while, he was a truck driver and got to see the country coast-to-coast, sometimes bringing his children with him to share the experience of seeing the country. He also worked for Brinks as a coin room controller for more than nine dedicated years.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and was a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus Andy Valley Council in Auburn.

For many years, Larry worked as a volunteer for Community Concepts.

He loved the outdoors and tinkering with his tractor. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing cards, especially cribbage with his dad, and spending time with his family, which was the pride and joy of his life.

Larry was the most dependable person you could know. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He will be missed for his caring ways and how he could always put a smile on your face.

He leaves his wife of 30 years, Claire, of Auburn; two sons, John Giasson and wife, Amy, of Florida, and Paul Giasson of Auburn; a daughter, Lisa Giasson and her fiancé, Jeremy Lothrop, of Auburn; his parents, Roger and Cecile Giasson of Florida; three sisters, Linda Bilodeau and her husband, Bert, of North Carolina, Gail Curran and her husband, Daniel, of Sabattus, and June Bonner and her husband, Russell, of Connecticut; a brother-in-law, Robert Morin and wife, Shane, of Florida; a grandson, Jonathan Giasson of Florida; his mother-in-law, Rita Morin, and her companion, Norm Lizotte, of Poland; and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Henry Morin.
