Lewiston – Violetta Touchette, 97, formerly of Maison Marcotte and Meadowview, died late Saturday evening, Sept. 1, at d’Youville Pavilion with her niece, Diane Grandmaison at her side.
She was born in Lewiston July 20, 1910, a daughter of Arthur and Leonie (Roberge) Grandmaison. She was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.
On Oct. 19, 1946, she married Albert Touchette who passed away July 22, 1964. Violetta worked for many years at the Bates Mill and also did some secretarial work for several years until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Family Church, the Ladies of St. Anne and was a past president of the Meadowview Association. She also did some volunteer work for a time for Community Concepts in Auburn and for WCBB Television’s annual auction. Among her favorite enjoyments were knitting, crocheting, sewing, doing puzzles and crafts.
She leaves a special nephew and godson, Richard Grandmaison and his wife, Diane, of Lewiston; a special niece, Sister Madeleine Grandmaison of Waterville; many other nieces and nephews; and three special friends who were her extended family, Bea Harris and Eva Caillier, both of Lewiston, and Wendy Barry of Poland.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Henry, Willie and Romeo Grandmaison.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Morrissette for the wonderful medical care he provided for her, and to the staff on 4 East, at d’Youville Pavilion, and to the staff at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the tender loving care they gave to her each and every day.
