AUBURN – The SHAREcenter program is seeking volunteers to assist during opening hours Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Volunteers would be welcome to work in blocks of two-plus hours at a time at 1 and 6 p.m. Those interested should call 795-0972 to schedule an orientation.

In addition, the program is low on school supplies and welcomes donations of such items as pencils, scissors, tape, pens, glue, markers, crayons, paper, writing pads, folders, push pins, paper bags, paper clips, fasteners and pocket folders.

The center is a free treasure trove for local teachers, nonprofits and school groups. The Green Zone is also available to the public for purchasing items at a small cost.

Materials can be used for creative crafts and education. Businesses and others donate materials, scraps, fabrics and samples. Teachers get office supplies, art paper, fabric, leather and widgets. Children and nonprofit groups make items from the assortment of donated items.

Contact the SHAREcenter program, P.O. Box 800, Auburn, ME 04212-0800, or call 795-0972. The center is located in the Great Falls Performing Arts Center, Academy Street. The center is open from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon the first and second Saturdays of the month. It is closed school vacations, Auburn school snow days and holiday weekends.
