DANBURY, N.H. (AP) – Fireworks are being blamed for a fire that destroyed a barn this weekend in Danbury.
At the Danbury Inn, workers said they saw fireworks going off near the center of town, then heard people shout “Fire!” as the night sky blazed orange from the flames. The Danbury Inn was hosting its annual Oktoberfest celebration this weekend. Inn co-owner Alexandra Graf said she worried that two gas stations near the barn would catch fire.
“It was kind of scary to me. I have a house full of people,” she said.
It took firefighters from 19 nearby departments to put out the five-alarm fire.
Danbury Fire Chief Tom Austin said the barn contained lumber and1,000 bales of hay.
