District Legionnaires to meet at Lisbon post

LISBON – Officers of District 3, Androscoggin County, American Legion, will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Coombs-Mountfort Post 158, 10 Webster Road.

September is American Legion National Preparedness Month. It is also the 88th anniversary of the American Legion as chartered by the United States Congress on Sept. 16, 1919.

The Legion will also observe it as Citizenship Day, the 220th anniversary of the United States Constitution and POW/MIA Recognition Day, all celebrated on Sept. 17, and Gold Star Mothers Day, Sept. 18.

All officers and Legionnaires of Posts 10, 22, 31, 66, 111, 135, 150, 153, 158 and 210 are invited to attend.

The District 2 Auxiliary, which includes Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties, will meet. All officers and members are invited.

Those attending will discuss the traveling Vietnam Wall, which will be at Lewiston Veterans Memorial Park on Friday through Sunday, Sept. 28 to 30, sponsored by the Fortin Group and L/A Veterans Council.
