BELFAST – Kristen Capen proved to be a wall in goal and Courtney Erskine scored the game’s only goal to help Leavitt end Belfast’s 54-game field-hockey winning streak with a 1-0 victory Tuesday.

Belfast, the three-time reigning Class B champion, outshot the Hornets and attempted 13 penalty corners compared to Leavitt’s none, but could never solve Capen (nine saves) in goal.

Megan Miller, Krissy Ellis and Brianna Dostie controlled the action in the midfield, while defensive back Liz Moreau helped keep the ball away from the Leavitt cage. Erskine, Heidi Swett, Rachel Doiron and Taylor MacLean kept the Lions off balanced in the offensive end.

Edward Little 3, Messalonskee 2 (2OT)

AUBURN – Ally Butler converted a pass from Jess Campbell with 1:33 remaining in the second overtime to lift Edward Little to a 3-2 victory over Messalonskee in KVAC field hockey action Tuesday.

Karen Leary and Dianna Kruszewski also tallied for the Eddies (2-0) to complete the scoring. Kayla Cummings made 15 saves in net for Edward Little.

MacKenzie Labbe scored both goals for the Eagles (1-1), while goalie Beth Ridley turned aside 17 shots.

Oxford Hills 2, Bangor 0

BANGOR – Goalie Aleksys Pike was solid, knocking away all nine shots she faced to preserve the shutout win, as Oxford Hills posted a 2-0 field hockey victory over Bangor.

Alexis Gamache tapped in the first goal in the first half for the Vikings, thanks to an aggressive assist from Marisa Hanning. Kaitlyn Crockett scored the insurance goal off a penalty corner with help from Teira Durgin in the latter part of the contest.

Oak Hill 1, Rockland 0

WALES – Brianna Broomhall converted a pass from Courtney Clark with 18:19 remaining in the first half to lift Oak Hill to a 1-0 victory over Rockland.

Brittany Wood made 10 saves in net for the Raiders (1-1) to notch the shutout. Kalli Ilvone turned aside 16 shots between the posts for Rockland (1-1).

Soccer Mt. Blue 2, Nokomis 0

FARMINGTON – Tia Laine and Marlie Mochamar scored goals as Mt. Blue rolled to a 2-0 triumph over Nokomis in KVAC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.

Ava Amadore and Kelly Yardley contributed with assists for the Cougars (2-0), while Emily Dean made nine saves to preserve the shutout.

St. Dom’s 2, Gray-NG 0

AUBURN – Ali Desjardins and Jessica Chamberlain scored in the first half to send St. Dom’s to a 2-0 triumph over Gray-New Gloucester.

Sophie Goulet assisted on Desjardins’ goal. Elise Applegate stopped nine shots to pick up the shutout for the Saints (1-1). Patriots’ goalie Taylor Damon made 10 saves.

Lake Region 4, Poland 3

POLAND – Four players registered goals for Lake Region in a 4-2 victory over Poland in WMC girls’ soccer.

Erica Webb, Krysti Leach, Christina Ricci and Betsy Balchunas all tallied for the Lakers (2-0), while Chelsea Meyers made 10 saves in net.

The Knights (0-1-1) were paced by Jenn Baril with two goals and an assist, while Brittany Michaud also tallied. Goalie Paige Piper turned aside nine shots for Poland.

Cony 1, Leavitt 0

AUGUSTA – Olivia Boivin netted the lone unassisted goal with 5:38 left to give Cony a 1-0 victory over Leavitt.

Boivin stole the ball at midfield and found an opening to slip the ball into. Kylie Cheever made five saves for the Rams (2-0). Kat Rothe made 14 saves in the losing cause for the Hornets (0-2).

Mt. Ararat 2, EL 1 (OT)

TOPSHAM – Gabby Bryant scored off a scramble in front of the net in the first overtime to lift Mt. Ararat to a 2-1 girls’ soccer victory over Edward Little.

Sami Owens scored the only goal of the first half to give the Eagles (2-0) the early lead, but Katie St. Hilaire scored on a breakaway midway though the second half for EL (1-1).

Chelsy Montminy made seven saves for the Eddies, while Mt. Ararat’s Bri Young stopped three shots.

Morse 4, Oxford Hills 0

BATH – Clementine Eberhart netted a pair of goals to lead Morse to a 4-0 victory over Oxford Hills.

Lauri Taggert and Beth Suggs also scored for the Shipbuilders (1-1).

Sam Rivers stopped 14 shots for the Vikings (0-2).
