SOUTH PORTLAND – Christopher Drummond, 40, of Schooner Road, South Portland, passed away Monday, Aug. 27.

Chris was born in Rumford, Dec. 14, 1966. He was educated in Dixfield schools, where he graduated and was a member of the National Honor Society and received many scholastic awards. He also excelled in sports.

He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Magna Cum Laude in 1989, with a degree in chemical engineering. During the four years that he attended RPI, he played varsity football. He was also a member of Theta Chi Fraternity.

After receiving his degree, he was employed by General Electric Plastic Division in Montgomery, Ala. He volunteered as a mentor to young people in the Montgomery area. Later, he returned to Maine and worked for UNUM in an actuarial capacity.

In 2001, he obtained his master’s degree in business from Georgia Technical Institute. After receiving his master’s degree, he worked as a consultant primarily for KPMG. During his consulting career he traveled to Germany, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Bermuda and many other places.

He loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many spectacular places. He was a great sports enthusiast. One of his favorite teams was the Miami Dolphins. He was a lover of life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed outdoor activities which included skiing, tennis, rugby, football and many others. He will be missed by all that he touched.

Surviving is his beloved, Klara Bezouskova of the Czech Republic; his mother, Jean of South Portland; his father, Richard of Guilford; brothers, Scott, Mike, Nick and Rick; sisters, Andrea and Jessica, and her husband, Dan; maternal grandfather, Francis Thibodeau of Old Town; also many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. He will forever be in our hearts.
