LIVERMORE FALLS – Selectmen voted 3-0 Tuesday night to approve a two-year contract for Town Manager Martin Puckett beginning Jan. 1, 2008, and expiring Dec. 31, 2010, selectmen’s Chairman Jackie Knight said Wednesday.
His annual salary will remain $50,000, she said.
Puckett of Augusta was given a two-year contract when he was hired in January 2006.
Selectmen also agreed to review his compensation on or about Jan. 1, of each year of the agreement, she said, and determine what increase in base compensation and/or performance award was appropriate, Knight said.
Whatever is determined for an increase will be put in the budget for the following fiscal year to be voted on in June, and if approved by voters, be given on July 1, 2008.
Selectmen also approved contributing to Puckett’s retirement plan through the Maine State Retirement Fund effective July 1, 2008, at the rates prescribed by the retirement system, Knight said.
He currently has one week of vacation and on Jan. 1, 2008, is already eligible for a second week, she said.
Selectmen gave him a third week, to become effective in January, in lieu of a salary increase, she added.
Puckett already accumulates one sick day a month and will continue to do so.
Selectmen did ask that any conferences or seminars he would like to attend be brought before the board for approval, Knight said.
