Bayview Gallery in Brunswick is showing “Darkness and Light: New Paintings in Oil and Watercolor,” by Robert Spring of Warren, a master of chiaroscuro, the bold contrast of light and dark. He will give a brief gallery talk at a 6 p.m. reception Friday, Sept. 14, in conjunction with downtown Brunswick’s 2nd Friday Artwalk, scheduled from 5 to 7:30 p.m. An internationally known scrimshander, Spring’s forays into watercolor and oil painting have been equally successful, with his work accepted into the permanent collections of the Mystic International Museum, the Penobscot Marine Museum and the Farnsworth Art Museum. The gallery is at 58 Maine St.
