BRIDGTON – Neal Philip Edwards, 77, of Bridgton, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at his home with his loving wife of 34 years by his side.

He was born in Phillips on Aug. 26, 1930, the son of Alton (Prince) and Helen Edwards.

He graduated from Rangeley High School and received a certificate in business management from the University of Maine.

He retired after 34 years with Central Maine Power Co. (formerly Rumford Light Co.). He was proudly employed by the state of Maine as a game warden in the Rangeley area. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a construction electrician in the Seabees.

He and JoAnne attended the United Methodist Church in Bridgton. He was a member of the Blazing Star Lodge, 30 AF & AM in Rumford, the Kora Temple Shrine; the Order of Eastern Star, Pondicherry Chapter, Bridgton, and the Yankee Radio Club, KB1YI.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Maxwell Edwards of Bridgton; a very special nephew, William Maxwell of Sabattus; one daughter, Mary Ellen Pinkham, and her husband, Doug, and grandson, Andrew and granddaughters, Rachael and Megan of Norridgewock; one son, the Rev. Mark Edwards, and his wife, Melanie, of Eastport, grandson, Christopher; great-grandson, Hayden; granddaughter, Becky; several nieces and nephews; sisters, Jean Mitchell of Strong and Nathalie St. Clair of Farmington; brother, Ronald Edwards of Windham; special in-laws and friends, Richard and Rita Maxwell of Auburn.

Neal and I wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those caring people who have been there for us over the last several months. Including Dr. Robert P. Doyle and staff, oncologist Dr. Hans Boedeker, oncology nurses at the Bridgton Clinic, Lindie, Sue, and Carolyn, You’re the Best! Also the very helpful receptionist and staff at the clinic and many other hospital personnel and the nurses at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. In addition, we would like to thank the many family members, friends, neighbors, volunteers and everyone else who made these last months easier for us.
