FARMINGTON – The Upper Kennebec Valley Chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association will hold a day of low impact logging demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Tracy Family Tree Farm.
The day will include demonstrations on precision felling, limbing and bucking, skidding with a 4WD tractor and Farmi winch with Forester Peter Tracy, ATV logging with landowner Steve Gorr, and logging with a two-horse team with Dave Fish. Russell Perry will operate a portable mill on site, with Forester Bob Bond explaining how the forest products are sorted and getting the most out of harvested wood. The farm has been under intensive management since 1987.
There will be light refreshments available, so those attending should bring a bag lunch. The event is free and open for anyone. For more information, contact Patty Cormier at 474-3499 or [email protected].
