DURHAM, N.H. (AP) – Authorities are investigating what caused a steam leak that severely burned a construction worker at the University of New Hampshire.

The man suffered third-degree burns over much of his body Thursday afternoon.

The worker was depressurizing a pipe in a manhole near new dormitories around 2 p.m. His name and condition were not available.

Fire officials say he was scalded by steam that was 160 degrees.
