AUBURN – Marie L. Fortier, 74, died Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Hospice House. She was a resident of the East Shore Road, Worthley Pond, Peru.

She was born in Rumford on Jan. 5, 1933, a daughter of Armand and Cecile (Dionne) Fortier and graduated from Our Lady of the Mountain Academy in Gorham, N.H., Class of 1950.

Marie worked in the human resources department for 10 years and then in other departments and retired in 1995 from the production planning department, having been employed at Boise Cascade Paper Co. in Rumford for more than 32 years.

She was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Church, where she also served as president of the church council, was active in the church choir and served on many church committees, including the church school board. She served as chairwoman of the Rumford School Board for three years and as chairwoman for fundraising of the Rumford Community Concert Association, and was charter member and past president of R.A.A.P.A.

Marie is survived by her brothers, the Rev. Theodore Fortier, A.A. of Athens, Greece, and Albert Fortier and wife, Evelyn, of Winslow; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Berthe LeClerc and Jeannette Gaughan.
